New Years Eve and Reflection

The end is near....the end of 2016 that is and this year has brought along many reasons to celebrate.  As I finish my 2nd year of TPT, I am finishing the year up from last year in views, followers, and sales!  I have recently started an Instagram page and a page on facebook.  Today as I sit and reflect (all while working on new TPT items for my store), I am mentally making lists of goals that I want to reach for in 2017!
New Units on Musical Decades
Incorporating Musical Compositions into Packets
Revamping Older Items in the Shop
and Many more......

To kick off 2017, I am focusing on getting more organized, so stay tuned for more blog posts about what steps I am taking to organize my planning, my desk and well, my HOME!!!  Enjoy your day, the final day of 2016!  Now excuse my while I snuggle under my heated blanket, coffee in hand and cheer on my Clemson Tigers!!!!  HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Countdown to Christmas

Does anyone else get anxiety extreme joy from the holiday season?  I'd never be so stressed out and busy that I do not even have a tree up yet and will be hosting a Christmas party here in 2 days.....that would NEVER happen!  This time of year is busy for everyone but for teachers, especially arts teachers, this season is sure to keep you on your toes and quite humble!  With performances just around the corner and concerts for my own children, I am overly stressed and counting down the days to WINTER BREAK!!!  For those music teachers and general education teachers who would like some extra arts integrated activities to fill those awkward spaces during the day, check out the new products in my TPT store tonight!!

New to my TPT Store.....

Happy Sunday everyone!  I hope your day was as restful as mine.  Ready or not, here comes Monday!  If you're like me, you are probably spending your evening putting the last minute touches on your lesson plans for the week.  If you are looking for a fun activity to do this week with your 3rd-5th graders (since Thanksgiving is approaching and there is also a full moon, which means the kids will be acting crazy like little angels) then this activity is for you!  All you need is tape (painters or masking) and this download in my shop now!

First, you need to tape out a music staff on the floor of your music room.  Then display the slides on your smartboard.  The first few slides are of each individual note in the treble clef.  The idea is to have the student to find the note by moving and standing in the correct line or space of the staff.  The final slides will display two notes.  With these slides the students will compete to find their note
on the staff first.  I also encourage that you have class identify the interval between the two notes.

Have a great week!  Enjoy making music!!!!!!

Welcome to My Classroom

Welcome to my music classroom!  I am currently a music teacher in the heart of the south where I teach grades k5-5th at a magnet school for the arts.  I am constantly trying to build my resources to become the best music teacher I can be and through this process I have ventured into creating items for my TPT store!  One of my featured items on sale right now is a product called Fishy Rhythms.

I think what my kids love most about this activity is that they actually get to fish with cane poles!  My kindergarten students were able to fish for Ta and Ti-ti rhythms this week and they were pretty pumped to finally be reading these rhythms.  Stop by my store, snatch it up and take your students fishing!
